The Declaration
Nothing reaches your work product until it has been checked against its source.
That is the one rule TrialLift is built around. Not a feature. The rule everything else answers to.
I am Richard Schreiber, founder of TrialLift. I didn't learn what slows a trial team down from a textbook. I've spent more than 25 years serving law firms, from the largest in the country to small practices, and I've watched the documents, the deadlines, and the judgment calls that live in one person's head decide whether a case is ready.
When AI tools arrived, I saw the same pattern I'd seen with every new technology before it. They promised speed. Then lawyers started filing briefs with citations that did not exist, and courts started sanctioning them. Speed without proof is a liability in a courtroom.
So every AI statement in TrialLift points to a page. Every citation is checked against real court records. Every action is on the record. That isn't a compliance feature bolted on afterward. It's the one rule the rest of the platform was built to serve.
What I See
A trial team's whole case lives scattered across depositions, medical records, exhibits, pleadings, emails and images, searchable only inside one person's memory of where things are. General AI tools will write a citation that sounds exactly right and does not exist. Most of the time, no one catches it until a judge does.
That is not a hypothetical. It is the reason courts have sanctioned lawyers for filing AI-generated citations that didn't hold up, and the record of it keeps growing.
The record is already public
2,149 documented AI hallucination cases are on record worldwide as of October 7, 2026, with 1,473 in U.S. courts alone, tracked case by case in the AI Hallucination Cases database. The count changes daily. A team preparing for trial without a way to check an AI-generated citation before it reaches a filing is not waiting for that exposure. It is already carrying it.
What I Believe: Four Promises
- It never invents a number. If something has not been recorded, TrialLift says "Not recorded yet" instead of guessing. A guess that sounds confident is worse than no answer at all.
- Every AI statement points to a page. Each statement is checked against the page it cites before you ever see it. Anything that cannot be confirmed is set aside and never reaches a review or an export.
- Client names stay inside the firm.Names and identifiers are swapped for placeholders before anything goes to an AI, then put back in the answer.
- Everything is on the record.Uploads, AI uses, edits, approvals and downloads are all logged, and the logs show if anyone tampers with them.
These rules are enforced by the software, not left to a user's discipline, and they're written into the guidebook every TrialLift user receives.
What I Build
- The whole file, one placeDepositions, medical records, exhibits, pleadings, emails and images all live together for each case. Upload files or a whole folder, or connect Clio and the matter's documents come in on their own. TrialLift reads every page, scans included, so the file searches in under a second.
- Ask it questions and get a summaryAsk for a summary across documents, the trends in the medical records, or the arguments for your client. Every statement points to the page it came from, and anything that can't be confirmed is set aside.
- The Trial Prep CanvasBuild your opening, witnesses, exhibits, cross-examination and closing. Pull in verified excerpts with their pages, locked word for word. Ask the AI to tighten a passage or turn notes into witness questions. AI text is always marked, and nothing changes until you accept it.
- Trial StrategyEvery piece of evidence is scored for completeness, the gaps are ranked with what to get next, and a case is rated High, Medium or Low by a written rule with its reasons shown. TrialLift never shows a win percentage it cannot back up.
- Judge and VenueThe sitting judge's public background from CourtListener, and reported verdicts and settlements for cases like yours, each with its source named. Reported results lean toward large awards, so the page says plainly they are not a prediction of what the case is worth.
- Citation ValidationBefore a brief goes out, TrialLift checks every citation and quote against real court records and scores the brief out of 100. One lawyer approves the findings; a different lawyer locks the report.
Who This Is For
This is written for trial teams who take cases to trial and want a system the whole team can trust, from discovery through the courtroom, not just the associate who happened to find the right page first.
The first three firms accepted into the founding pilot use TrialLift for 60 days with no licensing fees. In return, you use it on real cases and tell us plainly what works and what does not. I review every application personally and reply by email.
Frequently asked questions
- What is TrialLift?
- TrialLift is a trial preparation platform that brings every file for a case into one place, lets a trial team ask questions and get page-linked summaries, and opens a Trial Prep Canvas for building the opening, witnesses, exhibits, cross-examination and closing. Predictive analysis scores the evidence and proposes a trial plan, built from the case record.
- What are the four promises TrialLift keeps?
- It never invents a number: if something has not been recorded, TrialLift says "Not recorded yet" instead of guessing. Every AI statement points to a page and is checked against it before it reaches you. Client names stay inside the firm, swapped for placeholders before anything goes to an AI. And everything is on the record: uploads, AI uses, edits, approvals and downloads are all logged, and tampering shows.
- What is the founding pilot?
- The first three firms accepted use TrialLift for 60 days with no licensing fees. In exchange, the firm uses it on real cases and gives honest feedback on what works and what needs to change. Usage costs, such as the per-page charge for reading medical records, are paid by the firm, and TrialLift asks for confirmation of the cost before anything runs.
- How many documented AI hallucination cases exist in legal proceedings?
- As of October 7, 2026, the Damien Charlotin AI Hallucination Cases database documents 2,149 cases worldwide, with 1,473 in U.S. courts. The count changes daily, so check the database directly for the current figure before citing it.
- Does TrialLift connect to Clio?
- Yes. Connect Clio and the matter's documents, parties and dates come in on their own, with new files arriving as they are added. Citations are checked against public court records from CourtListener and GovInfo, and only the citation itself is ever sent, never a client name or fact.
